D.Asset automatically adds all files located in watch folders. In case a file was added to the folder, but it did not appear in the database, it is necessary to add the file manually. There can be several reasons for the file not appearing, mostly
it happens if the computer’s processor is overloaded at the time of inserting the file, so the notification from the Windows system skips it. It rarely happens, but it can happen. Clicking on the “ADD ASSET” button will open a manual input window.
I (Select) – Clicking the “Select” button will open a search window in which you need to find a file on the disk.
II (days to live) – Assigning the number of days before the file will be physically deleted from the disk. If set to 0, the file will never be deleted.
III (tags) – Space for entering tags.
IV (Cancel) – Button to cancel the file addition.
V (Set) – Clicking this button will accept all settings related to the file and the file will be added to the database.
c) Button for creating a file about the archived material
If you have a large number of files that are archived after a certain time, ie. are no longer physically located on the computer disk, a virtual file can be created that will contain data about the archived file, as well as the location where it is located in the archive. Clicking on the button will open a window for creating an archived file.
I) Basic information about the file
Title – file name
Artist – name of the artist
Author – name of the author
II) Additional information about the file
If the file is a music concert or contains several music tracks, and in order to use the option for the report on broadcast files, it is necessary to enter information about each music track. To add you need to have administrator account. If you are not logged in with administrator privileges, a login window will open. Logging is described in section 6a of this text. If you are logged in with administrator privileges, clicking on the + button will open a data entry window.
By selecting one of the created additional music tracks in the list of all additional tracks and pressing the “-” button, the selected track will be deleted from the list. The “import” button is used to import an XML file that contains a list of all the tracks in the file. Some of the production companies, when they deliver the files, also send an XML file that contains the necessary information.

d) Starting an automatic search
Regardless of the fact that D.Asset automatically recognizes every change in the monitoring folders, it is possible to specify the time at which all changes made in the monitoring folders will be rechecked. The period for which the search will be carried out is entered by clicking on the field or arrows, and the value is in minutes.
e) Manually starting the search
Clicking on the SCAN button will start a search of all surveillance folders. A button has two states.
- Manual search not started.
- Manual search is started. After the search is finished, the button will return to the state of the search not started.
f) Button to enable calculation of Loudness value
Button to enable calculation of Loudness value for each file individually. If the button is on, a progress line will appear with information for which file the loudness value is currently being calculated, as well as information about
the number of remaining files for which the calculation should be performed. A button has two states.
- Loudness calculation process is not started.
- The loudness calculation process is started.
NOTE: Since the calculation of the Loudness value is a demanding operation and uses all available processor power, it is necessary that D.Asset be installed on a separate computer. Number of processors on multi-processor computers which D.Asset will use for Loudness scanning can be determined by right-clicking the button to turn on the calculation. The default value is 2 processors.
g) Button to enable the process of creating proxy files
Proxy files are copies of original files created in a lower resolution and lower bit rate, so they take up less space, and they are used in the file editor to save the resources of the computer on which the editor is running. If the button is on, a progress line will appear with information for which file the proxy file is currently being created, as well as information about the number of remaining files that need to be created. The button to enable the process of creating proxy files has two states.
- The process of creating proxy files has not been started.
- The process of creating proxy files is started.
h) Button for turning on the thumbnail creation process
Thumbnails are used in the graphic representation of the current position in the broadcast file in the D.Play application. If no thumbnail has been created for the currently streaming file, the line with the graphic display will still exist, but will be empty. If the button is on, a progress line will appear with information for which file the thumbnail is currently being created, as well as information about the number of remaining files that need to be created. Button to turn on the thumbnail creation process has two states.
- Thumbnail creation process not started.
- Thumbnail creation process is started.
