Editing assets

1. Indicator of the file in use

4. Trimming line

The line that indicates the graphic representation of the duration of the asset and on which trimming is done. By moving the position of the red brackets (“”[” and “]”), we set the beginning and end of the part we want to use. Above the line, numbers are marked every few minutes of asset duration for easier orientation.

5. Graphic display of asset position – Head

A graphical representation of the position of the asset currently marked for viewing and trimming.

6. Controls

a) Buttons for setting IN and OUT points.

Just as it is possible to determine the start and end (IN and OUT) via the trim line (4), it is also possible to do this via these buttons by rewinding the asset to the desired position and clicking on the IN or OUT button.

b) Graphic display of the elapsed time of the asset that was played in the preview window and is being edited.

If we move the slider of the asset position (Head), the time of the current position of the slider will be displayed here.

h) IN time – If we set IN POINT on the trimming line (4), by moving the bracket (“”[“), the IN POINT position of the asset will be displayed in this field (time relative to the original asset).  By clicking on the button in front of the counters, the asset preview will be positioned at IN POINT.

i) DURation time

If we marked the IN and OUT POINT for trimming, this field will show the total duration of the trimmed asset.

k) MIX IN time – If we move the asset position slider (Head) and click on the white button in front of the counter, we will create a MIX IN point that will serve to overlap (MIX) two assets. By clicking on the button in front of the counters, the asset preview will be positioned at MIX IN POINT.

l) MIX OUT time – If we move the asset position slider (Head) and click on the white button in back of the counter, we will create a MIX OUT point that will serve to overlap (MIX) two assets. By clicking on the button in back of the counters, the asset preview will be positioned at MIX OUT POINT.

m) INTRO END time – If we move the asset position slider (Head) and click on the “Set Intro End” button, we will create a INTRO END point that will serve to Announcer to know when intro ending. By clicking on the button in back of the counters, the asset preview will be positioned at INTRO END POINT.

NOTE: Given that the edit window is the same for all applications in the DOVECHER SYSTEM, MIX IN (k), MIX OUT (l) and INTRO END (m) have no use in D.MAM.

n) TC – By turning the TC button on and off, you can choose which times will be displayed in the edit window. The time in relation to video duration or the time in relation to when the recording was made (TIMECODE).

7. Technical information about the asset

In this space you can see technical information of asset. You can read more about technical information are in “Technical information of asset” in this tutorial.

8. Segment Information

Each asset can be divided into several segments so that during broadcasting it is possible to insert a block of advertisements between them. Since this part of the edit window has nothing to do with D.MAM, it will be described in tutorials for other applications.

9. Asset volume slider and Graphic display of the Loudness of the selected asset

Here you can change the volume that will be affected when the asset is broadcast.

10. Create subclip

When we specify the IN and OUT POINT within the asset and click the “SET” button, every time we insert that asset into the broadcast list it will start from the IN POINT and end at the OUT POINT.
If we do not want that asset to always be “trimmed”, we need to click on the button “Create subclip” and in this case a new asset will be created (with the same name with the addition “trimmed”) which will have IN and OUT POINT, and the original asset will remain unchanged.

11. Title

With this button you can choose whether you want to see the title in the video file preview window (3) or not..
